Apple releases iOS 16.0.3 to fix a Mail security issue and other bugs

Apple iOS 16 release was far from perfect. We got a lot of hiccups here and there, from shaky camera to display flickering in low light. But, Apple is consistently releasing new iOS software to patch these nasty bugs.

Apple just released the latest iOS 16.0.3 update which fixes the following bugs:

  1. Delayed notification of calls
  2. Low volume when connected to Apple’s CarPlay
  3. Slow camera launch between modes

This update also fixes a critical security flaw in Apple’s mail app. In this issue, if a malicious actor sends you a specifically malformed app it can result in an app crash (denial of service as Apple defined it in their security content of iOS 16.0.3).

Apple has described that the issue was how the Mail input was validated which is fixed for iPhone 8 and above.

You can install the latest update by following these steps

  1. Go to ‘Settings‘ App
  2. Tap ‘General
  3. Tap ‘Software Update‘.
  4. Wait for the iPhone to show the latest version and tap on ‘Download and install‘ below the release notes section.

Have you been to Apple to catch up with all the Apple iOS latest updates?
