Apple on Tuesday March 26th announced it will host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) online which starts with the keynote on June 10th and runs through June 14th, 2024.
Anticipate big announcements around iOS and iPadOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11, among others. Perhaps a tease of generative AI in which Apple is investing extravagantly.
More recently, Apple has also been rumored to be in talks with Google and OpenAI, and Baidu in China, to introduce generative AI features in its next generation phones and software.
What does WWDC mean in Apple?
Apple holds the Worldwide Developers Conference on an annual basis. This year, Apple announced that the 2024 edition will be held the week of June 10–14 at the Apple Park campus in Cupertino, California.
How to join Apple WWDC?
Wondering how to register and attend WWDC? The Worldwide Developer conference (WWDC) is always free to attend online, with a free stream of the event directly from Apple’s website and YouTube.
Prior to 2020, developers were required to pay $1,599 to purchase WWDC tickets to attend. However, it has now turned online, open to all developers.
Apple also offers a special chance for a select few. A limited number of developers and students will have the opportunity to join WWDC keynote in person at Apple Park on Monday, June 10.
This in-person event will give the exceptional Apple Developers and students the opportunity to experience the WWDC buzz firsthand, network with Apple engineers, participate in special activities, exciting new programming and enjoy a host of other engaging, unforgettable experiences.
Who is Eligible to Attend
Current Apple Developer Program or Apple Developer Enterprise Program members can ask to attend, as can Apple Entrepreneur Camp alumni and Swift Student Challenge winners from 2022 to 2024.
350 Swift Student Challenge winners are set to be announced on Thursday, March 28. 50 Distinguished Winners will receive an invite to a special three-day experience that includes the special event on June 10.
Developers who are not selected to attend can watch the June 10 keynote event on Apple’s website or on YouTube.
Apple is proud to support the next generation of developers through the Swift Student Challenge, one of many Apple programs that seek to uplift the next generation of developers, creators, and entrepreneurs. On March 28, this year’s applicants will be notified of their status, and winners will be eligible to apply for the in-person experience at Apple Park. Fifty Distinguished Winners, who are recognized for outstanding submissions, will be invited to Cupertino for a three-day experience.
